MEET YOUR LIBRARY STAFF

 

 

Carolyn Kirio is a cybrarian at Kapolei Middle School in Hawaii where she trains, collaborates, and instructs with teachers and integrative teams. Kirio worked at Waianae High School as a library media specialist until she opened Kapolei High's library in 2000.  2010 marks her first year at Kapolei Middle.   In 2006 the American Association of School Librarians and Follett Learning Resources selected Kapolei High's library as one of the National School Library Media Programs of the Year (SLMPY). Kirio earned her National Board Certification in 2002. She was selected as one of School Library Journal's "Top Ten Librarians To Watch" in 2003. The Hawaii Association of School Librarians also honored Kirio with the Golden Key Award in 1999 for her exemplary leadership in the school library profession. Kirio has a BEd in Music Education, a Professional Certificate in Secondary Education, and an MLIS in Library and Information Science. She has also been certified through Technology Training for Teachers, a Hawaii program for educators.

 

Having been a  library assistant at Kapolei Middle School since October of 1999, Mrs. Yoro is very knowledgeable and a valued member of the library staff .  She enjoys working with kids and finds it very rewarding to be able to work here.
